Good in bed - Hospitality
South Florida CEO, Feb, 2004 by Barbara Perkins
"I was a novice in the world of sheets," admits Robert Thrailkill, general manager of Hilton's uber-brand Conrad hotel in Miami. Even though he'd been with Hilton for 24 years, standards for the Conrad luxury line were, well, different. "With Hilton, you'd just place an order and the sheets would be delivered," says Thrailkill. Not so for Conrad. The brand takes its sheet selection very seriously, and has a bedding budget of half a million dollars per hotel to prove it. "It's important to have that soft and luxurious feel." says Thrailkill So, it was only after an exhaustive four-month process of researching and evaluating bedding samples that Thrailkill chose sumptuous five-ply, 300-thread-count cotton sateen linens from Anichini. "We've got a great bed now," says the satisfied GM.
