* Roto-Rooter agreed to pay $410 million in cash and debt assumption to buy the 63 percent of Miami-based hospice provider Vitas that it does not already own. The Cincinnati based conglomerate and plumbing company paid $27 million for one third of the private for-profit firm in 1991. The deal, expected to close in March of this year, sent Roto-Rooter's stock price soaring 16 percent.
