Jennifer Holt Estrella, 31

South Florida CEO, May, 2005

Current Position: Associate attorney, Immigration Practice Group, Gunster, Yoakley & Stewart

Background: After college, the New York native spent a year volunteering in Sri Lanka for the YMCA and later led its US volunteer international exchange program. The work piqued her interest in immigration, and led her to earn a law degree from Seton Hall University in New York. In 2003, Holt Estrella moved to Miami to work for Gunster. She is one of three US delegates on the executive committee of the World Alliance of YMCAs.

The Future: Holt Estrella says she has "a passion for immigration," and will continue her work in that arena. She hopes to be elected to a second four-year term for the World Alliance of YMCAs, while also helping the International Committee of the YMCA of Greater Miami become more active. Her ambition is to be a YMCA USA board director.

Key Choice: Estrella became a YMCA camp counselor at the age of 15 after her stepfather, who was the Westfield, N.J. YMCA executive director, told her, "You should work at the Y over the summer--none of this staying around being lazy watching MTV." The job only paid $2.50 an hour, but she says she loved it.

What Her Parents Tell People She Does: "She's saving the world."
