Safire to build - Big deals: following the money - Safire Aircraft - Brief Article
South Florida CEO, July, 2003
* West Palm Beach-based Safire Aircraft has announced it will locate at Opa-Locka Airport, a move that will create up to 1,000 new jobs over the next three years. Safire plans to manufacture small, lower-priced private jets at Opa-Locka, with the first plane expected to be delivered sometime in mid-2006.
By 2009, production is expected to peak at more than 500 aircraft per year. An incentives package put together by The Beacon Council, and worth up to $12 million, helped the company decide to move. Safire hopes to build a $40 million facility at the airport, with groundbreaking scheduled for late summer 2004.
