Aruba to pay - Big Deals

South Florida CEO, Sept, 2002

> A US judge has ordered the island of Aruba to pay Miami racing promoter Ralph Sanchez $20.5 million for his work on the Aruba Motor-sports Complex. Sanchez -- who helped bring the Speedway to Homestead -- had been hired to bring a similar speedway to the Caribbean nation. The ruling stated that the island, which requested the case take place in Miami, owed Sanchez for five years worth of hypothetical revenues from the speedway (work was never started on the project).
