* Anglo-Dutch publishing conglomerate Reed Elsevier Group, owner of the LexisNexis legal database business and publisher of trade magazines such as Variety, has agreed to buy Boca Raton-based Seisint for $775 million in cash. Seisint provides public records access and analysis used for detecting fraud, verifying identities and recovering debt.
The company also offers Matrix, the controversial anticrime database used by state and federal law enforcement agencies. Reed Elsevier plans to keep Seisint's 312 Boca Raton employees.
