Miami-based pharmaceutical giant Ivax Corp. was acquired by Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. of Tel Aviv, Israel for $7.4 billion. The merger gives TEVA operations in more than 50 countries and approximately 25,000 employees. Ivax was one of South Florida's few public Fortune 500 firms.
