Look!

ChildArt, April-June, 2004

We shall not cease from exploration and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.

T.S. Eliot

The art of a child is a time machine for adults. The ways children use color, line and form is a truthful expression of what they feel, what they think, how they view the world, Seeing a child's art reminds adults how they felt and saw the world when they were children, before being overwhelmed by the problems of life.

This is the idea behind the exhibition "Look!", which presents a collection of children's drawings from all over the world. It is a journey into the universe of children between 15 months and 7 years of age, that allows your mind to escape the rational pressures of modern life.

In this journey you are reminded that our similarities are greater than our differences. You can see how children around the world, regardless of their cultural, historical and geographical backgrounds, use and produce many of the same forms of graphic expression in their artwork. These drawings remind us that all children are children of this world, and fill us with their great message of hope.
