Plumtree's new Portlet framework targets PeopleSoft data

MarketWatch: Business Intelligence, June 19, 2003

Portal pioneer, Plumtree Software Inc, has announced the availability of a brand new portlet framework for PeopleSoft Inc's business application suite.

San Francisco, California-based Plumtree says the framework will allow portal administrators to build portlets (small, discrete application interface components) that are specifically designed to search, display, and update data from the PeopleSoft 8 suite.

The framework offers a graphical environment for creating the portlets against any standard or custom PeopleSoft Component Interface (CI). The product was designed with guidance from over 20 joint PeopleSoft and Plumtree customers, and is billed as the first "horizontal portal" to integrate PeopleSoft applications alongside content management and collaboration services (which PeopleSoft lacks).

The move is part of Plumtree's wider "anti-sprawl" strategy, which targets the portal interfaces of enterprise business application vendors--including the likes of SAP AG and Siebel Systems Inc--to incorporate ERP and CRM-like functionality into a higher-level Plumtree Corporate Portal.
