The Department of Energy (DOE) recently announced $16.3 million in funding for 162 renewable energy and energy efficiency projects in 43 states and the District of Columbia. Funding is being provided through DOE's State Energy Program Special Projects competitive grants.

According to DOE, state energy offices will use the funds to help support renewable energy sources such as solar, wind and biomass; improve energy efficiency in schools, homes and other buildings; promote energy-efficient industrial technologies; and create opportunities for distributed energy resources.

More information concerning award category summaries and funding amounts can be viewed on the DOE website.
