PowerLight Reports on First Year of Toyota Solar Installation
0 Comments | Renewable Energy Today, May 17, 2004
PowerLight Corporation recently reported that, in its first year of operation, the solar electric system atop the headquarters of Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A., Inc.'s headquarters in Torrance, CA "is greatly exceeding energy performance expectations."
According to PowerLight, the system, which it designed and installed at the Toyota complex's South Campus last spring, generates enough electricity during the daytime to power more than 500 homes. Since startup, PowerLight noted that the system has operated at 100 percent availability, and has produced more than 100 percent of expected energy.
Additionally, PowerLight said the solar array has helped Toyota lower energy costs, reduce pollution and conserve natural resources.
