TransAlta Opens New 68-MW Wind Farm in Calgary

TransAlta Corporation announced last week it has begun commercial operations at its 68-megawatt (MW) Summerview wind farm near Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

The $100-million facility comprises 38 Vestas V80 1.8-MW wind turbines and is operated by TransAlta subsidiary Vision Quest Windelectric.

The project brings TransAlta's renewable energy portfolio to 314 MW, including 151 MW of wind energy and 163 MW of geothermal energy in California.
