The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) recently announced that it, in conjunction with the Jacksonville Electric Authority (JEA), has installed a 4,760-watt solar power system at Episcopal High School in Jacksonville, FL.

According to DEP, the project was carried out under the state's SunSmart Schools Program, which plans to install 29 solar electric systems in schools throughout the state.

"Planning for future energy demands ensures a brighter tomorrow for Florida," said DEP regulatory programs and energy deputy secretary Allan Bedwell. "Installing solar technology in Florida's schools protects our environment and quality of life while also providing an unparalleled educational opportunity for students."
