GE Fanuc to Provide Software Solution for Evergreen Solar
0 Comments | Renewable Energy Today, April 14, 2006
GE Fanuc Automation, Inc., a unit of GE Industrial, recently announced that solar power product developer and manufacturer Evergreen Solar has selected the company's Proficy plant applications manufacturing execution system (MES) solution for use at its EverQ production facility currently under construction in Thalheim, Germany.
According to GE Fanuc, the Proficy plant applications software suite will be utilized to track the photovoltaic (PV) module manufacturing process at the EverQ facility from the growth of silicon wafers through the production of solar cells and assembly of the modules. The software will then send the final results to a service access point (SAP) system to provide data to track production and material usage.

"We had two goals for this system," said Evergreen Solar vice president of world wide expansion Richard Chleboski. "The first was to provide the manufacturing engineers with real-time data to improve operations and the second was to create a scalable platform that could be implemented globally."
