0 Comments | Renewable Energy Today, Oct 11, 2006
The California Public Utilities Commission recently approved three contracts for utility Pacific Gas & Electric Co. to purchase electricity generated by renewable energy.
The contracts for the PG&E Corp. subsidiary range between 10 and 15 years. They are part of California's energy action plan calling for renewable resources to make up 20% of utility power supplies by 2010.
The commission approved a 17 to 55 MW geothermal power deal with Bottle Rock Power LLC of Sonoma, Calif.; 5 to 10 MW of biomass power with Liberty V Biofuels LLC of Bakersfield, Calif.; and 20 to 40 MW of biomass electricity with HFI Bio Power Project LLC in La Pine, Ore.
