Irish Renewable Energy group asks for government assistance on green building
0 Comments | Renewable Energy Today, Jan 4, 2007
Millions of dollars will be wasted heating poorly insulated homes in Ireland this year, according to the country's Renewable Energy Skills Accel Project.
The project is asking the government to intervene by offering grant incentives to homeowners wanting to conduct energy audits.
"Incentives could include exemptions, tax breaks and grants for people in the lower income groups who suffer from hardship of fuel poverty," Renewable Energy Skills Accel Project Manager Dick Whelan said.
"I would also welcome an extension of Sustainable Energy Ireland's Greener Homes Scheme, under which grants are provided to new and existing home owners to cover the purchase, installation and commissioning of renewable technologies," Whelan said.
