Ballard Orders FC Compressor Drive Motors From UQM

Fuel Cells Today, May 15, 2003

UQM Technologies, Inc. recently announced it has received an order from Ballard Power Systems for additional fuel cell (FC) compressor drive motors for use in FC engines, following another order received earlier this year.

According to UQM, the design application of its FC compressor drive motors "has been optimized to meet the specific operating requirements of Ballard's [FC] engines."

"Ballard is a leader in the development of proton exchange membrane [FCs] and this latest order reflects the success they are achieving in deploying their [FC] engines worldwide," said UQM president and CEO William Rankin. "We are pleased to be a key component supplier to Ballard as they continue to grow the market for their [FC] engines."
