Ballard Signs Distribution Agreement with Heliocentris

Fuel Cells Today, April 22, 2004

Ballard Power Systems recently announced it has named Heliocentris Energy Systems, a provider of educational equipment and training materials on fuel cells, as a North American and European distributor of Ballard's AirGen portable fuel cell generator and Nexa fuel cell power modules.

Under the $1.25-million agreement, Ballard said Heliocentris will purchase AirGen generators and Nexa power modules during the next two years for incorporation into a product line for post-secondary institutions.

Heliocentris will then offer such institutions educational packages comprising Nexa power modules, AirGen generators, course materials and Nexamon software.

"There will be high degree of synergy between our two companies," said Heliocentris cofounder and managing director Henrik Colell. "Heliocentris' leading position within the fuel cell education space will help broaden Ballard's exposure to tomorrow's engineers and scientists, while Ballard's products will round out our product offering to post-secondary institutions. The Ballard products are ideal for incorporation into advanced courses in engineering, graduate and post-graduate research, and student design projects."
