FSEC Wins DOE Award to Test Hydrogen Production Technique

Fuel Cells Today, Oct 28, 2004

The Florida Solar Energy Center (FSEC) announced this week that it and its partners have won a nearly $4-million contract from the Department of Energy (DOE) for a multi-year project to demonstrate the cost-effective use of solar thermochemical water-splitting cycles to produce hydrogen for use in fuel cells.

For the project, FSEC and partners Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) and Universidad del Turabo (UT) in Puerto Rico will use high-flux solar concentrators.

The FSEC-SAIC-UT team will divide the project into three phases: a technology assessment phase, a testing phase and a demonstration phase.
