GM, Hydrogenics Demonstrate Hydrogen-powered Forklift

Fuel Cells Today, Feb 7, 2005

Hydrogenics Corporation and General Motors (GM) of Canada, Ltd. recently announced they have successfully demonstrated a hydrogen-powered forklift at GM's manufacturing plant in Oshawa, Canada.

According to Hydrogenics, the demonstration project is being partially funded by a $1.45-million contribution from Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC).

"Demonstration projects like this are critical to the development of fuel cell technology," said GM Canada corporate and environmental affairs vice president David Paterson. "With predictable duty cycles, lift trucks are an ideal application from which to learn, and a large plant like ours, where external elements are not a factor, is an ideal plant to conduct a trial like this."
