Enova to Supply DoD With Fuel Cell Suite for Aircraft Tow Tractor

Fuel Cells Today, May 2, 2005

Torrance, CA-based Enova Systems, Inc., a leading manufacturer and developer of hybrid electric and fuel cell drive systems, recently announced a new program teaming the company with Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC), an independent, nonprofit, applied research and development professional services organization that provides management, integration and technology-based solutions to an array of clients.

Enova said it will supply its 120-kilowatt HybridPower drive system and its fuel cell power management suite to the Department of Defense (DoD) Fuel Cell Test and Evaluation Center (FCTec), which is operated by CTC, for integration into an MB-4 aircraft tow tractor developed by CTC and Enova. Enova noted that the vehicle will be used in fuel cell demonstrations at select Air Force Bases and civil airports in the U.S. in conjunction with the U.S. Air Force Advanced Power Technology Office in Warner-Robins, GA.

"We are fortunate to be teaming with CTC because of its expertise in integration and the opportunity to showcase Enova's hybrid drive system and fuel cell power management technologies in this expanding sector of clean ground service equipment," said Enova president and CEO Ed Riddell. "This is our first joint undertaking with CTC and we anticipate many other ventures of this kind between our companies as we continue to expand our markets in the U.S."
