GTI, TCEQ to Codevelop Hydrogen Fueling Station Technology

Fuel Cells Today, Oct 11, 2005

Gas Technology Institute (GTI) and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) recently signed an agreement for the development of hydrogen fueling station technology as part of TCEQ's new Technology Research and Development (NTRD) program to reduce emission sources in Texas.

GTI noted that it is teaming with Richardson, TX-based GreenField Compression, Inc. to develop and commercialize integrated natural gas-to-hydrogen fueling stations, building upon the institute's cooperative program with the Department of Energy (DOE).

According to GTI, the program with TCEQ focuses on developing and commercializing integrated natural gas-to-hydrogen fueling stations and related components such as hydrogen compressors, hydrogen dispensers, and system packaging and controls. The system will use GTI-developed steam methane reforming technology as well as its Hydrofill dispenser control algorithm for accurately filling hydrogen-powered vehicles.
