Starwood Installs DFC Power Plant at San Francisco Hotel

Fuel Cells Today, Oct 12, 2005

Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, Inc. and FuelCell Energy, Inc. recently announced the installation of a 500-kilowatt Direct FuelCell (DFC) power plant at the 390-room Westin San Francisco Airport Hotel.

According to the companies, the DFC will provide base load power to the hotel as well as heat for the hotel's indoor pool.

"Our use of fuel cells at Sheraton hotels has successfully reduced our energy costs while offering us quality power with strong environmental benefits, and we are eager to begin applying this formula to our Westin and other brand hotels," said Starwood director of energy John Lembo.
