GM to Open New Fuel Cell, Hybrid R&D Office in Moscow

General Motors (GM) recently announced it will open a new research and development (R&D) science office in Moscow in an effort to leverage Russian science institutes and universities on an array of technologies, including hybrid and electronic controls, fuel cells, and battery research.

According to GM, initial project work will include materials, emissions control catalyst development, lightweight metal processing, hydrogen storage for fuel cell applications and engine control technology.

The new science office will be located at the GM Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) offices in Moscow. GM chief scientist and manager of R&D Alexey Ushakov will head the operations.
