Apollo, May, 2004 by Samson Spanier
The Victoria and Albert Museum, London, is planning to create a dedicated set of galleries for fashion as part of its current ten-year development plan, APOLLO has learnt. The 'Fashion quarter', as it is named, will be situated on the third floor, adjacent to the new jewellery gallery. The plans will not be resolved in detail until the new medieval, renaissance and islamic galleries are completed in 2006.
Funding has yet to be raised. The initiative may achieve added support in the light of the strong attendance figures for the current exhibition on fashion designer Vivienne Westwood (left).
