When an owner gives up: Lord Hesketh has decided to sell Easton Neston, his family seat designed by Hawksmoor. Should we care?

Apollo, July, 2004 by Gavin Stamp

> Perhaps we can understand why Lord Hesketh has tired of looking after Hawksmoor's vast, grand pile. But where will he live instead? Hesketh has already built an interesting new racecourse stand at Towcester (designed by Francis Roberts); perhaps he should redeem his reputation by commissioning a distinguished new country house to emulate the distinction of Hawksmoor, if on a rather smaller scale, to create that heritage of the future that government ministers and modern architects are always going on about.
