Letter from Dublin

Apollo, Sept, 2004 by Nigel McKinley

Collectors will be able to find thousands of works by Irish artists between 19-21 November at Art Ireland 2004. This now twice-yearly event, launched four years ago, is held in the same venue as the aforementioned Irish Antique Dealers Fair, the main hall of the RDS. The fair, which last year attracted some 8500 visitors, has pioneered the concept of accessibility and enjoyment amongst the company of both gallery owners and the artists themselves with prices at all levels.

Galleries taking part this year will include The Andipa Gallery from London, The Gallery, Manchester's Art House, the Le Siants Gallery and Art Master Gallery, Prague and the Art Universe Gallery, Lviv, Ukraine. Artists are coming from as far a field as Finland, America, Brazil, Australia, Eastern Europe and Spain, bringing a new international dimension to this fair. It is also of course a showcase for Irish artists and you will find work by Kevin Sharkey, Terry Bradley, Ian S Childs, Darlene Garr and more. With over 100 participating artists and a new lecture series, the fair should be Ireland's biggest visual arts event of the year.
