Apollo, May, 2005 by Dan Gorton
'WELCOME to the catalogue for the Summer Fine Art and Antiques Fair at Olympia. This fair is one of the three fine art and antiques fairs organised by Clarion Events throughout the year, the others being the Winter Fine Art and Antiques Fair in November and Fine Art, Design and Antiques in February/March. Full details of all the fairs are on our website www.olympia-antiques.com
The Summer Fair is the largest fully vetted fine art and antiques fair in the UK, comprising over 330 dealers. A significant number of dealers are from overseas, and as this fair is the only place in the UK that many of them exhibit, the fair has a truly international flavour. It is an essential event for anyone interested in the world of art and antiques, be they established collectors, professionals such as decorators and designers, or simply enthusiasts looking to furnish their homes in a truly individual style or looking for that unique piece to complement an interior.
All the Olympia Fairs are vetted for authenticity. The day before the fair, 200 experts inspect every piece to ensure that they are authentic and properly labelled, so that you can buy with confidence. Added to that, buying from dealers, who have all been approved by a committee to exhibit at the fair, ensures that you receive a personal service as well as the surety that you know where your purchase came from, and that any restoration has been properly carried out. There are no buyer's premiums at fairs and no hidden extras. If you would like assistance in planning your visit to the fair this year, then do contact the organising team who can offer advice if you are looking for something specific or would like any other help. In the meantime, I do hope that you enjoy reading this catalogue and that you will be able to attend the fair. I look forward to seeing you there.
