Sculptures of serpentine and knotty coloured glass by Dale Chihuly are on show in the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, Surrey, from 28 May until January. The works, some of which have been designed especially for the project, are being installed all over the landscape. ( 44 [0] 20 8332 5655)
The last exhibition to have the personal involvement of Henri Cartier-Bresson (his portrait of Sartre, right) opens at the Kunsthaus, Zurich, on 13 May. The British political cartoonist Steve Bell (his depiction of the 2001 election campaign) is talking on William Hogarth's influence on his work, on 6 May. The lecture is organised by the Hogarth Group, and takes place at the Foundling Museum, London, formerly part of the Foundling Hospital, to which Hogarth gave five of his paintings. The International Media Art Biennale in Wroclaw, Poland, takes place 11-15 May. Artists from 46 countries are showing digital, video and audio art. A monographic show of Robert Cahen (a detail of his Sept Visions) accompanies it. www.wrocenter.pl
The Louvre is displaying sixty of its Florentine drawings dating from 1620 to 1720, 12 May-15 August. The exhibition celebrates the museum's publication this month of its catalogue Dessins Toscans XVI-XVIIIe siecles (volume II) by Catherine Menbeig Goguel. ( 33 [0] 1 40 20 53 17)
G.B Tiepolo's preparatory work for paintings is notable for the use of the oil sketch as a spirited first attempt rather than a final study. 'Oil sketches by Tiepolo' at the Getty Center, Los Angeles (3 May-4 September) includes fifteen. They are accompanied by four paintings by him, as well as the exhibition 'Drawing in eighteenth-century Venice' (17 May-21 August). ( 1 310 440 7300)
140 depictions of London are on show in 'Monet's London: Artists' reflections on the Thames 1859-1914' at the Brooklyn Museum, New York. The exhibition (27 May-4 September) includes ten paintings by Monet, work by Derain and Whistler, as well as nineteenth-century photographs. ( 1 718 638 5000)
A new fair of contemporary ceramics is taking place in London, 6-8 May. Ceramic Art London includes work by 90 artists, mostly from the UK. This lemon squeezer is by Conor Wilson. ( 44 8700 600 100)
The first exhibition on the New England cabinetmaker John Townsend (1733-1809) takes place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, 6 May-25 September. He made this high chest in 1759. A symposium on Townsend is being held at the museum on 20 May. ( 1 212 396 5460)
