Caption: The Cass Sculpture Foundation in Goodwood, Sussex, is to expand. The privately-run foundation commissions and then sells contemporary British sculpture, which it displays in a thirty-acre park (right, work by Sophie Smallhorn). Wilfred Cass, eighty, the founder, wants it to become part of a larger institution that could achieve more than a single person. He points to the example of the Guggenheim in Venice, founded by Peggy Guggenheim: 'It is part of the big empire. But it is independent because it generates its own funds, as we do.' Cass would like to introduce a board of trustees, representing major institutions.
