'Charles Sheeler' at the National Gallery, Washington, DC explores the artist's many facets, from his film Manhatta and his photographs (a car factory, left) to his paintings and murals. The wall paintings in the Borgia Apartments at the Vatican by Pinturicchio (1454-1513) have just been restored. The project is one of several initiatives celebrating the 500th anniversary of the Vatican's art collection, which was begun in the 16th century by Pope Julius II. mv.vatican.va

Billionaire French industrialist Francois Pinault decided not to build a museum for his contemporary art collection in Paris because of insurmountable Bureaucracy--or perhaps it was just too expensive.
