Sun announces tools for Solaris 10

Rethink IT, Dec, 2004

Solaris 10 has become officially available, and Sun Microsystems has announced some new development tools to accompany the operating system.

The tools include java Studio Enterprise 7.0, Java Virtual Machine support for 64-bit AMD Opteron chips, and compilers for C, C , and Fortran.

New documentation will also be available from a web site called Solaris 10 Developer Connection, along with a user community forum and a hosted development canvas, so users can test code without affecting production servers. There are also some migration tools for Hewlett-Packard's HP-UX and Tru64 operating systems.
