PeopleSoft targets smaller customers

Rethink IT, June, 2004

As SAP starts to move its customer relationship management software up the food chain to the large enterprises, PeopleSoft will meet it on the way down, as it launches a new push aimed at smaller customers.

The company has announced the PeopleSoft World Express ERP suite, which runs on the IBM iSeries Intel-based servers, and includes applications for financials, distribution, manufacturing, CRM, human resources, and project management.

The software is available in versions targeted at four industries: industrial manufacturers, wholesale distributors, home builders, and construction companies. Each edition comes preconfigured with as many as 30 industry-specific business processes.

PeopleSoft inherited the World line when it acquired JD Edwards last year. The software is scheduled to become generally available later this quarter.
