* Microsoft ships Solomon ERP product

Microsoft Business Solutions has released a new version of Solomon, its midmarket ERP application.

The new version features improved project management, accounting tools, and web interfaces, along with new analytical and reporting tools.

Solomon 6.0 is specifically designed to integrate with with Microsoft Business Portal 2.5, which was released in August. Solomon 6.0 should be available in the US and Canada later this month.

Microsoft's Solomon unit fell into turmoil in June when the company announced it was closing the product headquarters, laying off 108 employees, and outsourcing support and development to a startup called Plumbline Solutions. Version 6.0 of Solomon was originally scheduled to ship last quarter.
