Enterprises to outsource IT security

Rethink IT, Oct, 2004

According to a Yankee Group report, enterprises will outsource up to 90% of their IT security tasks by 2010.

This jump in outsourcing will lead to growth in the managed security solution provider (MSSP) market, which is expected to reach $3.7bn in value by that time. Many enterprises may initially only hand over perimeter security to MSSPs, but will soon turn to fully managed security solutions as vendors become more advanced and inhouse IT security costs continue to rise.

This push to outsource security will be largely driven by the need to stay ahead of increasingly sophisticated hackers.
