The animated life of Phil Roman
Latino Leaders: The National Magazine of the Successful American Latino, April-May, 2002 by David Everett
Some of his recent and current projects suggest that he has found that pulse. His studio has recreated feature-length, kid-friendly movies, such as Sinbad the Sailor and Blackbeard the Pirate from the RKO Film Library. The studio is "also developing two haft-hour animated comedy series: Soap on the Range, about two feuding families in the foothills of the Colorado Rockies; and Li'l Eddie, about two wealthy bluebloods who adopt a street-smart African-American orphan from the "Hood." Roman has also delivered two Christmas specials: Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer, based on the song by that name; and Christmas in Gaudinia, a whimsical animation inspired by the fantastic designs of Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi.
The man Phil Roman, once a boy inspired by Bambi, has come a long way, and he's still moving.
