A marvelous festival

Latino Leaders: The National Magazine of the Successful American Latino, August-Sept, 2004

The National Hispanic Cultural Center Foundation (NHCC) will be hosting "Maravilla, Days of Wonderment," a festival of Hispanic Arts to celebrate the grand opening of the Roy E. Disney Center for the Performing Arts in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

"Maravilla," an event that features key Hispanic figures of the performing arts in the US, including Daniel Rodriguez, "America's Beloved Tenor," will kick off on Friday, September 17, with a VIP reception and a grand opening concert headlined by the jazz virtuoso Arturo Sandoval, followed by many other entertainers, including the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra. The festival is scheduled to end on September 30, 2004.

"We are extremely proud to be raising the curtain on this newest addition to the NHCC campus," says Katherine Archuleta the center's director. From folklorico and ballet to opera and salsa to the latest films by the hottest Latino directors in Hollywood, it will all be here at the Roy E. Disney Center for Performing Arts."

During this portion of the festival, films like Salvador Dali's Destino and the Sundance award-winning Real Women Have Curves will be screened.
