CHANCES OF MAKING THE LIST NEXT YEAR: High

Who she is:

Lopez first grabbed the national spotlight in 1990 as the curvaceous fly girl on "In Living Color." Almost two decades later, J. Lo has starred in dozens of films, including "Selena," for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe, "Monster-In-Law," and "El Cantante," produced by her Nuyorican Productions company. She executive produced the reality show DanceLife, which aired on MTV, and Univision's mini-series "Como Area Una Mujer." The Grammy-nominated artist has toured worldwide and has recorded six studio albums, with her first all-Spanish album "Como Ama Una Mujer" shooting straight to No. 1 on Billboard's Latin Album chart.

Why she made the list:

One of the most powerful and the highest-paid Latina actress's in Hollywood history, Lopez has effortlessly traversed the different artistic mediums. But, she also has nimbly managed and expanded her J. Lo brand: She has launched clothing and accessory lines, introduced best-selling fragrances, and opened a restaurant. Married since 2004 to the singer Marc Anthony, she gave birth to their fraternal twins, Emme and Max, on Feb. 22. They were introduced in People magazine for the reported price of $6 million. We'll see this new morn get down to business as she launches a new fragrance, and a new reality show that is planned for TLC.

Our Prediction:

Her star and stardom is still ascending. Lopez will continue to fascinate us as she continues to entertain us, matures as a businesswoman, and wrangles more behind-the-scenes power in the movie-making and television industries.

THE LOZANO FAMILY

Founders, La Opinion Newspaper

Education: M.B.A.

Residence: Los Angeles, California CHANCES OF MAKING THE LIST NEXT YEAR: High

Who they are:

In 1926, Mexican-born Ignacio Lozano founded La Opinion newspaper in Los Angeles, California. His vision to form an independent newspaper for the Mexican population has continued for the past eight decades by his children and grandchildren. Grandson Jose Ignacio was the publisher from 1986-2004, when ImpreMedia acquired La Opinion. Today, he serves as ImpreMedia's vice-chairman, and his sister Monica is senior vice president of the newspaper The youngest member of the Lozano family, Francisco, was recently appointed Director of Sales Development and will head the newly formed ImpreMedia Solutions Group.

Why they made the list:

For more than 80 years, the Lozano family has kept the integrity of journalism alive through their publications. Most importantly, they have been able to change with the times, growing from a small paper for Southern California in the 1920s to a large, digital enterprise in the 21st century. Their Latino family loyalty is strong and the lineage has not been broken from Ignacio to Francisco. La Opinion's community outreach commitment was extended a few years ago to include the ... xito Empresarial program. The company offers training courses designed by the Small Business Administration in marketing, accounting, financial planning, and business plan development for entrepreneurs.

Our Prediction:

ImpreMedia is about to acquire some new, and probably, younger users as it makes its foray into My Space. The company recently signed an agreement with My Space to provide content for "TodoFutbol," a Latino community devoted to U.S. and Latin America soccer news.

Education: Some College, Northern Arizona University

Residence: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma CHANCES OF MAKING THE LIST NEXT YEAR: High

Who he is:

Born to working parents in the barrios of Glendale, Arizona, Lopez grew up with a desire to have a better future. Though he won a football scholarship to play in college, Lopez left before completing his degree to get married and start a family. Later on, he became one of the first staff members of the Southern Council of La Raza, which later became the NCLR. A few years later, when he became a franchisee for McDonald's Corporation, a fruitful business relationship began.

* Why he made the list:

Lopez' business sense earned him the confidence of the fast-food giant, who urged him to buy a meat processing plant in Oklahoma. Lopez took a chance and purchased Normac Foods in 1992. Three years later, he changed the company's name to Lopez Foods, and today his business is the largest Latin@owned manufacturer of beef and pork products in the United States. His company is a major producer of meat products for some major food chains and retailers. His company boasted sales of approximately $460 million in 2005 before the acquisition of two new plants in the U.S. His latest endeavor, in partnership with wife Pat, is Suenos LLC. Their company just broke ground for a 134-room Cambria Suites hotel in Oklahoma City.
