Acura TSX is tops

Consumer Reports has named the Acura TSX best overall in tests of four mid-sized sport sedans in its November edition. The TSX was one of three vehicles in the group that got the Very Good rating. The group also included the Audi A4, the Subaru Legacy GT, and the Volvo $40. The Volvo got the Good. The TSX, the A4, and the Legacy GT scoot around on four cylinders; the $40 functions on five. The TSX, the A4, and the $40 sport rear-wheel drive, but the Legacy GT is all-terrain. All four cars cost around $30,000.

According to David Champion, CS's director of testing, "The Acura TSX and the Subaru Legacy GT are better balanced between their sporting and their comfort elements. The Audi was pleasant to drive, but not very sporty and had very narrow back seats."

CS recommends two of the four vehicles in the group, the TSX and the Legacy. They only recommend vehicles that have performed well in their tests and have a degree of trustworthiness based on their subscribers' reports. They must also do well on collision tests.
