Some books are created to instill knowledge, some to share history and important facts; and then some are put together for the sheer pleasure of just having fun. 101 Cataclysms falls in the later category.

The book is an unabashed tribute to those mysterious, feline little creatures that often grace the confines of our couches, beds and pillows as if they simply ruled our world, which those who've ever owned a cat know is undeniably the case.

101 Cataclysms is a pictorial celebration of cats of different colors, ages and pedigrees, from the exotically hairless Sphynx to the most common American Domestic cat, as such, the book makes for a very unique celebration of diversity around a subject rarely seen from that perspective, and it does give the concept a whole new and refreshing twist, In addition to the deliciously candid photography, Rachel Hale has cleverly interspersed famous "cat quotes" throughout the book to complement the images. The quote: "In ancient times cats were worshipped as gods, they have never forgotten this" is a hilarious example of the witty and sometimes whimsical nature of this masterpiece, and it is also most definitely our favorite,

Whether you like cats or not, 101 Cataclysms is definitely a treat you should try. It might just make you consider being adopted by one.
