Microcyn® Technology for diabetic foot ulcers

Journal of Drugs in Dermatology, Nov, 2007 by Marissa Heller

Oculus Innovative Sciences, Inc recently announced updates in its phase II clinical trial of Microcyn Technology in the treatment of mildly infected diabetic foot ulcers. Phase III trials are currently being planned. Microcyn Technology reportedly acts by producing a nonirritating solution of compounds similar in action to neutrophils, thereby leading to eradication of single-cell organisms that cause infections.

The phase II trial is a multicenter, randomized trial to evaluate the safety and efficacy of topical Microcyn Technology that involves 16 medical centers and clinics, and 60 patients in the US. The primary endpoint is a clinical cure or improvement of mildly infected diabetic foot ulcers.
