Isolagen Therapy™ for acne scars

Journal of Drugs in Dermatology, Jan, 2008 by Marissa Heller

Isolagen[TM], Inc. recently reported that it has initiated a Phase III clinical trial to evaluate Isolagen Therapy for its use in the treatment of acne scars. In this study, two randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trials will assess the safety and efficacy of Isolagen Therapy in patients with moderate to severe acne scarring.

The study is a split-face study in which all patients will be treated on one side of their face with Isolagen Therapy and on the other side of their face with placebo, thus making each the subject their own control. Injections will be administered every 2 weeks for a total of 3 injections. The subjects will then be monitored for 4 months. Isolagen Therapy is already being tried in a Phase III clinical study to evaluate its use in treatment of the nasolabial folds and wrinkles.
