Genta Inc recently announced promising data regarding Genasense (oblimersen sodium) Injection plus Temodar[R] (temozolomide) and Abraxane[R] (paclitaxel protein-bound particles for injectable suspension) in the treatment of advanced metastatic melanoma. These results were reported at the Chemotherapy Foundation Symposium XXV.

At the time of this announcement, 8 patients had participated in the trial: 5 of the patients demonstrated clinical benefit (3 of these 5 patients had partial responses that occurred after the first treatment cycle), 2 patients exhibited disease progression, and 1 patient was too early to evaluate.
