Generic norethindrone acetate and ethinyl estradiol for acne vulgaris

Journal of Drugs in Dermatology, Feb, 2008 by Marissa Heller

The FDA has recently granted approval for the first generic formulations of norethindrone acetate and ethinyl estradiol tablets (28 day and 21 day) in 1 mg/0.02 mg, 1 mg/0.03 mg, and 1 mg/0.035 mg strengths. This oral contraceptive pill is also used for the treatment of moderate acne vulgaris in females aged 15 years and older who are unresponsive to topical treatment.

Barr Laboratories, Inc will manufacture and market this generic version of the comparable brand Estrostep[R], which is manufactured by Parke-Davis.
