The phase II clinical study, which evaluated Microcyn[R] Technology for the treatment of mildly infected diabetic foot ulcers, was recently completed. This phase II randomized, controlled trial, which was undertaken by Oculus Innovative Sciences Inc, enrolled a total of 67 patients.

Patients were randomized to 1 of 3 treatment arms: (1) topical Microcyn, (2) topical Microcyn and oral levofloxacin, and (3) topical saline and oral levofloxacin. The patients were treated for 10 days, and assessed at days 3, 10, and 24. Results are expected to be published and/or presented in the first quarter of 2008.
