Generic versions of Periostat still available

Journal of Drugs in Dermatology, Sept-Oct, 2005

CollaGenex Pharmaceuticals, Inc., announced that the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York has denied its motion seeking a temporary restraining order and a preliminary injunction against pharmaceutical companies distributing generic versions of its drug Periostat (doxycycline 20 mg).

Therefore, IVAX Pharmaceuticals, Inc., and CorePharma LLC are still able to market their generic equivalents of this drug. CollaGenex, Inc., reports that it will continue its attempts to seek compensation for lost profits as a consequence of the presence of generic versions of Periostat available on the market.
