Journal of Drugs in Dermatology, May, 2007 by Marissa Heller

Barrier Therapeutics, Inc recently announced that it has received marketing approval for Xolegel in Canada. Xolegel (ketoconazole, topical gel, 2%) is approved for the treatment of seborrheic dermatitis in immunocompetent adults and children who are at least 12 years old.

Xolegel is approved for use once daily for 2 weeks and has been shown to be both safe and efficacious. The medication received US FDA approval in July 2006 and was launched in the US in November 2006. It is the only FDA-approved prescription gel formulation of ketoconazole. The product will likely be launched in Canada later this year.
