The Ever-Expanding Magazine Front

Electronic Gaming Business, Jan 28, 2004

Both Xbox Nation and Computer Games Magazine announce substantial changes for the new year. Beginning with the March issue, Xbox Nation will go to a monthly schedule, according to publisher Ziff Davis. ZD is also shuffling the chairs on its editorial deck, moving Simon Cox from editor-in-chief of GMR to EIC of XBN. GameNow EIC Tom Byron will now head GMR.

Computer Games Magazine will expand into more general media coverage with its Now Playing 16-page monthly insert beginning in the Arpil issue. The add-on will include some console game coverage in the otherwise PC-centric magazine, but much of the space seems reserved for this demo's affinity tastes in anime, DVDs, MP3s, and collectibles. The magazine, which is owned by theglobe.com, has hired former executive editor of Cinescape Magazine Eric Moro as EIC for the magazine within a magazine.
