* FamilyFun.com, the online companion to Disney's Family Fun Magazine, invites game companies to submit entries for its upcoming Video Game of the Year Awards honoring the best E-rated family titles for kids 6 to 12. Eligible titles must have been released after Jan. 1 2004. Research firm Digital Research will present the titles to a panel of 2,500 children and rank them on a 100 point scale. The three top ranking titles in the Adventure/RPG, Strategy/Puzzle, and Action/Sports categories will be named finalists, with one winner in each category announced in mid-November. The entry deadline is September 20, 2004. Entry forms should be available now at www.familyfun.com/videogameawards.
> * Yahoo purchased Games Domain (www.gamesdomain.com) late last year and re-launched the site in early 2004 under a new look and integrated into the Yahoo Games universe within the portal. With its position within the largest mass market portal, Games Domain professes to focus on the hard core male gamer but also now address the broader demo of female and older/younger gamers through a lot of cross-promotion within Yahoo. All consoles and PC titles are covered, with a lead time generally of two weeks. The site invites all common game assets, including demos, trailers, behind the scenes footage (BetaSP format), screens, art, etc. Main editorial contact for review/preview and story pitches: Rich Greenhill, 408/773-9973, rich@rgnetworks.net.
