The baseball season has barely begun and yet the clear season winner in the video game league is already apparent. EA Sports MVP Baseball continues to spank all comers when it comes to mindshare in the category. Shortly after its release in early March, MVP commanded up to 75% of baseball game related searches across GameSpot sites. "Even now close to two months after its release on March 9th, it is still the most searched-for title of the baseball category, says Josh Larson, director, GameSpot Trax. Both Acclaim's All-Star Baseball and Sony's MLB 2005 have registered marginal interest comparatively, with ESPN MLB emerging as the only credible, albeit minor, also-ran brand. MVP garnered an astonishing 88.1% average review score in GameSpot Trax, suggesting that in this case consumers followed quality, not just brand.
